Your Hosts - Charlie and Phyllis Atha

Your hosts on the Wyvern are Charlie and Phyllis Atha.
Both of us are United States Coast Guard licensed captains and American Sailing Association certified instructors.

Before moving to Florida, Phyllis learned to sail their 33-ft Hunter sloop on Lake Ouachita in Arkansas where we lived for twenty years while raising our children,

Charlie has sailed since he was a child growing up in San Diego, California,
where he enjoyed racing and won a National Championship in the Snipe class.

We lived aboard the first Wyvern, a 42-ft Irwin Ketch, and called it our home from 1999 to 2008,
spending most of the winter seasons in the Bahamas and summers in south Florida. In 2008 we upgraded to the 45-ft Hunter.

During the Summers, as (USGS) licensed captains, we have taken several Boy Scout charters to the Florida Keys.
Each charter is typically 6 scouts and 2 adults, usually all non-boaters, from the Midwest.
A rewarding experience for everyone!

In the Summer of 2000, we took the Wyvern up the Intra-Coastal waterway from Florida to Maryland.
In Winter of 2003 to the Spring of 2005, we completed a Circumnavigation of the Caribbean.

We have been welcoming charter guests aboard the Wyvern since 2001. Our guests have come from all walks of life and all ages. We love living aboard and we enjoy sharing our lifestyle.
